Hello from Portland, Oregon!
Long time reader (lurker), first time poster.... It has been a pleasure reading introductions, success/life stories, etc. by everyone thus far. I look forward to all of your future posts.
Just a brief intro.... Graduated in Architecture in 2002 and at the same time became interested in learning more about all types of investing. After graduating it took me a couple of months to find a job and I spent every other day at the public library that was just down the street from me. I read about all the different ways one can invest in themselves and drifted towards the topic of real estate.
I started my own real estate company in 2003 and have loved learning all the different ways one can invest in real estate. The more I learn the more I realize I have yet to learn! I started out knocking on doors of people in foreclosure. Although I did a couple of deals that way I quickly realized it wasn’t my one trick pony, at least at this point in time. I moved onto investing in deeds of trust and had quite a bit of success doing that. Met some fantastic people that helped me through that process and have done a couple dozen deals up to this point, most of them with no/low money out of my pocket. The past few months I’ve migrated towards learning something new and am getting into lease-options because of the no/low-down opportunities. Just a heads up to some of you pros that I may be seeking you out for input!
I still love learning about other ways to make money besides real estate. I currently own a few domain names that I’m hoping to expand in some way, shape or form in the future. Just haven’t quite got there yet....
As of today I’m an Architect full-time (40+ hrs/wk) and a Real Estate Investor part-time (10-15 hrs/wk). My goal is to be a Real Estate Investor full-time (25+ hrs/wk) and an Architect part-time (10-15 hrs/wk) by December 31, 2010.
I look forward to your encouragement in helping me get there and am more than happy to help you all in any way that I can. Thank you MJ for putting together and maintaining such a knowledgeable and rich community!
