I have joined this forum after reading MJ's book over the last 3 days.
My background is 15 years in the military straight from high school at 16 (no college) leaving at 32. My plan after leaving the service was to accelerate my life with specialist skills and qualifications to"catch up" quickly with my slowlane counterparts. I have been doing this for 10 years and today at 41 years old find myself 10 years ahead of my peers (they are all 50+) in my organization.
The price has been high, 16 hours days including study time but I can see this is a dead end road. Pension age is getting further away all the time and despite putting so much into pensions plans over the years, what use will it be when I am 70? Perhaps I could buy myself a solid gold zimmer frame:smxF:
I have always known there must be more and reading the book was a like a slap in the face to change my road. I have made a start and have been running two online businesses for the last 12 months that are growing, but not enough yet to quit my soul destroying day job.
I am here to learn and to help me decide whether my business ventures are dead end slowlanes and to help explore some other potentially fastlane ideas I have.
I view information like a toolbox . I needed a website so I learned HTML, it looked rubbish so I learned CSS, no one was buying so I learned SEO. Others came into my niche so i made my business better by learning photoshop and photography etc.
Time is my most crucial asset and I am poor at managing it. I hope to learn a lot from this forum.
