Hello Everyone!
My name is Rhys and I'm a newly settled resident in Seattle, Washington after a long-planned relocation from Albuquerque, New Mexico. After baking in the New Mexico sun for greater than 20 years, the relocation to the temperate, green, rainy expanses of the PNW is a fantastically energizing thing for me. Alas, on to my story, and what brought me here.
I've always been entrepreneurial. Both my mother and father had their own businesses when I was growing up in addition to day jobs. My father, being a fine artist, would create awesome works of art. Some of which he'd break down into silk screens for t-shirts. My mother ran a small African Crafts Imports business that she would set up and run at flea markets and the like. While these businesses were never "huge", they opened my mind to what being an entrepreneur could do.
However, I made ALOT classic mistakes. I went to school for a degree that I loved (Graphic Design) and I have the $50,000+ in debt to prove it. I've starter and failed at two businesses where the business was, essentially, ME because they violated the Law of Time. I've had a business where my business partner was less than committed. I've had huge successes followed immediately by even bigger failures.
During my time in school, I focused on being the best designer I could be. I took risks with my work, spent more time researching trends and design styles than any of my peers, pushed myself beyond comfort zones and in the end... I usually always had work that would blow the doors off of my classmate's projects. The nickname I use on this forum, "RollsRhys", was originally given to me by a gangster-esque classmate of mine upon seeing my latest, freshly unveiled project. It stuck, and has followed me to this day as a testament to my craft, and now I'm taking that same voracious mentality and beginning to apply it to something better: a fastlane business.
As of right now, I'm finishing developing my fastlane business plan, and getting my "car" tuned up and ready to go. I'm looking forward to sharing with all of you my progress as I head down this path. Reading MJ's book poured fuel on a fire that was already going. With that book, I was able to see exactly where I went wrong and now, I'm ready to get this show on the road!
Thanks y'all, and it's great to be here!
