Hello, I've been lurking for some time (absolutely ages) and first want to say how wonderful this whole place is, great attitudes, great sharing, mines of gold a mile deep and tough but fair treatment of people who don't want to contribute.
Don't want to talk about myself too much, got all the usual bollocks excuses of too many ideas, too little money, all that kind of thing. I'm definitely not fastlane (yet) but I'm working on it. Knuckled down on one idea and trying not to get distracted.
I work in the property industry in a major city in northern england, I'm training to be a chartered surveyor. Not sure what the term is in the states but day to day I value large commercial properties for secured lending (ie I tell the bank what the property is worth). Unlike a lot of people here I really like my day job.
I get a big (embarrassing) kick out of buildings and the businesses working out of them and I come across a fair few business owners this way, lots of local / smalltime guys now doing great who've been building a business well for decades and most of the time they're borrowing to expand (i.e buying new or extending their premises). I don't spend a lot of time with these people but its good to see regular guys can make a big impact in their community, producing products, creating jobs and making serious money at the same time. Very inspirational and I try to take note of what I can. See the list above for the more frequent money making markets.
I have one buy to let property in a student city the UK that provides me with a little extra income and that I have learnt a lot from. Seriously made every mistake going over the last 7 ish years but it's all been lessons. I know there are some serious real estate guys on here but if any UK guys are looking at this kind of investment and want advice from an amateur (in the English sense) / part time perspective ask away!
Due to work I'm involved in the wider commercial property professionally and come across a lot of deals, buying selling and lending so any questions on this are welcome also! I've sucked a huge amount of knowledge from you guys and I'm eager to give back. Property law, landlord issues, tenant issues, yields for types of property, rental rates capital values. Obviously any advice should be taken as if it's come from a crazy on the internet (which it has) and not acted upon without checking with a solicitor / surveyor / your mum but I'm keen to help.

Finally @Andy Black thanks for all you added, for some reason I now think of you as some kind of incredible and benevolent and all wise godlike being. I've been through a few Adwords campaigns now thanks to you and learnt a huge amount. Look me up if you're ever in Leeds and I'll show you where to get a (only slightly inferior) pint of Guinness.
