Hello All,
My name is Steve, I am from Union County New Jersey, and a recent Penn State Graduate. I am currently working as a PGA golf professional, teaching lessons, and running programs for junior golfers. After college I worked at two very high end country clubs in Westchester County, NY. Although I enjoyed interacting with the many highly successful members at the club, I quickly realized that by working as a club pro, I would never get to be peers with these people if I stayed on that tract. While it was easy to see how to work your way up from an entry level assistant pro up through the ranks to hopefully eventually become a head professional.
After much deliberation, I decided that there was no reason I could not be at least as successful (or more so), as many of the people standing across the golf shop counter from me. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something just a little different. I partnered with another older golf professional to start an indoor golf center in a high end neighborhood in the north west Bronx, NY. After many setbacks, I put this venture on the back burner while unforeseen permitting and landlord issues had to be worked out.
I went to work with a long time friend on another out of the box golf business idea where we bring golf to after school programs for elementary school students across NJ. While this business has been successful it is far from on the fast track (very difficult to figure out how to make it all work on a grander scale).
During this time I have spent a tremendous amount of time trying to figure out how to get onto 'The Fast Lane', and believe that I would like to be involved in cash flow properties (right now I think I want to own apartment buildings), as well as real estate development. That is how I stumbled upon this site, through the thread titled "the path to becoming a real estate developer" (sorry I am not sure how to post linkback to the thread yet). I have currently been chasing after homes to fix and flip, as I must admit I am still trying to figure out how to put together bigger deals.
I feel that I am on the entrance ramp to 'The Fast Lane' and look forward to getting to know the members on this forum, and learn as much as I can from those who have already done what I hope to do.
Thanks to all who have read my post, I am excited to get started!
