To all my esteemed colleagues seeking to truly live and fully experience the bounty of riches life has to offer,
My name is Jason, I have been working independently in real estate for the past two and a half years, and I am also just starting to learn technical analysis and the application of its principles in swing trading. My academic background is in business management with a focus on entrepreneurship and new venture management. I’ve been reading lots of the material on this site (lurking in the background.. haha), and I am so impressed with both the wealth of QUALITY knowledge contained within it, and equally blown away by the diplomacy and respect shown between the members of this community.
MJ, it’s almost uncanny how many similarities there are between our respective stories; the gamut of emotion, the, the restlessness and frustration of failure, the (dare I say) disdain for the concept of subjugating oneself to an oppressive corporate regime and the associated illusion of security and control, (which if I had to make an educated guess, would be the prevailing sentiment among the majority of the members of this forum), and even the chronology… In fact, when I stumbled upon this website through Lambo-Power, your success story was the first thing I happened to read, and it was exactly the kick start I needed to reignite my motivation. You see, the past couple of years, for me, have been somewhat of a nightmare by the standards of the status-quo…
I suppose the more constructive way of looking at the last two years retrospectively however would be to say I’ve earned my master’s from the school of hard knocks. Among the many challenges I was and am still faced with, some of the most trying include: the repeated burglary of my project property, my business partner and best friend developing a drug addiction and subsequently embezzling funds to feed it, a lawsuit over an easement (which we lost by the way), inordinate amounts of red-tape involved in the stratification of my project property, mounting carrying costs (a hemorrhage would be a more accurate depiction), frustrated sales due to pending CPL’s , a good friend passing away, and a failed contracting side venture (to satisfy immediate cash-flow requirements). If it could go wrong, it did… But had it not gone this way, I would likely still be a completely naive doughboy, and though my business acumen is still in its infancy, when viewed within the context of my ultimate designs on life, it is light years ahead of what it was when I started. May I humbly state that I find far greater value in the knowledge and experience I garnered, than the profit I may, but still have not yet realized (and alas, may not realize) from this project. But this of course means I am now left hungrier than ever…I would be more than happy to share a more detailed account if anyone is interested in reading about it further.
Before I give anyone the misguided impression that I am trying to portray myself as some impervious tough guy, let me tell you that I have struggled fiercely with many issues from questioning myself and my abilities, to whether I was simply destined for failure. I also realize that I am not the only one, and that MANY before me have risen to the heights of greatness from far more humble beginnings. At the risk of sounding trite, I have never been a quitter, and I don’t plan on starting, ever…. Admittedly however, I am currently at a loss as to what the next logical step in the progression should be.
However dire the circumstances may appear at a given juncture, by the grace of God, the universe, luck or whatever label you would deem appropriate, I still have the shirt on my back, food on the table, a roof over my head, my health, my passion for life, my family, my friends, and my relentless drive….
I hope to make a valuable contribution to this community, and look forward to learning and growing with you all.
Thanks for listening, and much success!
Jason
