I'm 22 years old from Greece, grew up in germany and living here close to my whole life. Did study in Greece for 2 years but quit. Never really wanted to study but did it for my parents who actually paid my living over there.
Over these 2 years however I met a group of people there, based in athens, and some of them really helped me out, talking about the social part. However the same group has members who want more out of their lives. Some of them are interested on the wealth part of their lives and I'm really thankful to them that they gave me some book's titles I could start with. TMF is in the list too, but I am still heavily focused on the social part.
As time passes though, I find myself not wanting to be 35-40 and saving money in order to retire "rich". So I guess the right thing to do would be to read about people whose values I share and as in the social part learn and execute what I read.
Now... I really like, am afraid of trying to start something on the wealth part because I do not know anyone who makes a living on his own. I mean, 99% have a job of the people I know. My stepfather is an exception however, he has a small company for like, 15 years I think. He was the first one to tell me some raw truths and I really admire him for that. He has shown me that hard work pays off (however I didnt realize this until I spoke with the guys from the group in Athens I was talking about before) but he literally works from 7 in the morning till 8 in the evening monday through friday and on saturdays he has to do paperwork. On sundays he does some more work and goes out for a walk or whatever he wants to do. Lately he has been telling me that he doesnt want to do this anymore because its too stressful and he hasnt gotten the energy he had in his 20-30's.
Although I really respect him, he is the only person I know who is his own boss and makes a decent living. However he literlly has NO TIME to spend his money or enjoy his free time, this only makes my fear more intensive but at the same time I don't want to let this goal of mine go. (+ I want to be able to help people like my stepfather if they ever have problems. As he did for me. Got to fix my own life before I can do that i guess )
Well, these are the experiences which marked me and the reason for me finding out about and joining this forum.
Hope that's not too big of an intro/essay.
