Hey, what's up!
So, I've been busy with my e-commerce and investing some time and money on a second product line: EXECUTION - Control is EVERYTHING (branching out into new ventures ).
But, as I pointed out in my latest update, I had to stop for a bit due to my mother's health condition, I now I am facing the possibility of having to invest about $1,500-$1,500 per month on her care and quite frankly, I am unable to make that much without sacrificing my own financial goals.
So, I am considering a part-time job or side-hustle to be able to cover those unexpected medical bills. But, I won't be asking you for ideas, but if any of you has had any side-hustle experience that branched/scaled into a profitable and meaningful job experience, I am all ears. I just don't want to look for a random part-time job or side hustle that has no long-term value, just something that can help me build skills that could be impactful in the long term.
My current skills are:
-3-D graphics
-Photography, photo-retouching/editing for product e-commerce
-E-commerce sales and social media (instagram, Etsy, independent website).
-Some programming knowledge in C# and JavaScript for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
Desired skills to learn:
-Face-to-face sales - To improve sales skills, and to build a network,
-B2B sales (Tech/Software/Medical device sales).
-Advertising - Maybe I can use my Photoshop and copy skills to create ads? I jsut don't know where to begin marketing my ad work.
Ideally, to develop sales skills early on to build a good sales personality and enhance my network. Or any other soft skills that could gradually be meaningful for my own ventures.
What I've tried/done:
-I contacted a medical brand (Cochlear Americas) regarding a job posting requiring bilingual speakers, asking if they needed someone with personal experience (hearing loss, cochlear implant recipient) for their community engagement and sales (minor role) openings. Unfortunately, I got rejected.
-I contacted similar job postings from companies who work with children and parents of children with disabilities, but I have yet to hear back.
-Virtual Reality apps for real estate. It took me several months, and I kind of need to start making money soon.
-Product Photography offerings - I am getting incredibly lowballed here. Plus, a saturated market at Fiverr regarding photo retouch jobs is simply a luck game by now.
-Offered business consulting to friends starting their own ventures - They're interested in having me work with them, but they need to make some profit first to be able to fund the work.
-Jewelry business - This was my side-hustle but I need the extra income to build the prototypes.
-Website design for real estate luxury market - They liked my work but don't need it, they have far more success with realtors/brokers.
-Marketing research for music labels - Oof, a nightmare to work with them.
-Car detailing jobs - I somewhat enjoyed this process since I love cars (obviously) and don't mind having them looking spotless. But my wife believes I am worth much more than that, LOL.
-I am considering creating web apps using A.I. and my front-end coding knowledge. But I have little knowledge on security and server-side hosting in case I need to store confidential customer/member data, or protect the app from security breaches/hackers.
So, has any of you been fortunate with any side hustle that required little funding or commitment right from the beginning? or which skills have you gained from your side-hustles been impactful for your current ventures? I'd appreciate any advice on what to look for that compliment CENTS.
Thanks!
