I think I now know how people feel when they tentatively post their first ideas for a business venture on a forum. I have years and years of business success, but I've never brought others into the planning stage before (except for my team).
So, here's the plan, and where I could use some strategies.
Background
I have a big opt-in database at TL. It's not completely on autopilot, but close, and it provides both nice cash flow plus steady growth in clients for my CPA practice. I've expanded that to include CPA referrals. I'm seeing a couple of things happening. Other professionals are trying to emulate what I'm doing. They either (1) become my CPA clients mainly to save taxes and partly, I think, to learn from me how they can do what I'm doing, or (2) they hire a "hanger on" from my camp who says they helped me do what I did (and they didn't and it p***es me off no end) and then charges them thousands and thousands of dollars and end up failing.
There's one more piece to this - many of my high income clients are busy professionals like doctors and they just don't have time to go learn how to be real estate investors and for whatever reason they don't want to invest in other people's deals.
I would like to help them recreate what I have done with TaxLoopholes (create online education products and services) and then use it both as a passive income generator and a lead generator.
But, I want to prove that it can be done, fast, with a more tried and true formula.
The Project
I am going to start 25 (more or less) websites using a whole range of different strategies, with one common denominator - the professional's skills or abilities in a different way. Tom (Apto Hosting) and I have been talking and he's got a great grasp of the whole Web 2.0 concept. I hope to be working with him on that end of it.
At heart I'm a writer, so already have a book planned on this with a subtitle something like "How to make a million dollars in 2 years or less using business assets you didn't even know you had"
We'll run the websites, test, market, implement, repeat. We'll look for what works and report the results..and then write a book on the whole process. In a sense, I'm recreating what I did with TaxLoopholes, but in a totally different way. I'll use my tax, accounting and financial knowledge, but not in a one-to-one way. That's what I want to prove to my clients that they can do as well.
Then, I'll write the book, design an online and possible "in person" course, maybe even design some coaching programs others can implement.
Worst case - I create passive income. Best case - I help other high income, over-worked professionals learn how to take their passion, knowledge and skills and create passive income that creates huge impact in the lives of others.
Here's What I Need
I need help doing this. I had a line on a guy who had exactly the skill set that I thought would be perfect (some project management ability, good tech skills, great researcher, great self-starter, phenomenal audio & video skills) and I was going to offer him a salary and percentage of income. More than anything, though, I trusted him and felt we were in sync regarding values and integrity. This felt like too big of a risk for him.
So, I'm back to the drawing board. I have too many other business and charity things going on to project manage this on a day-to-day basis, plus I'm behind the learning curve on details like rss feeds and the like. (I don't know what I don't know)
Thots anyone?
