How's it going drivers,
My name is Charles, I am 27 living in the southeast U.S. I am a new Father and husband of 2 years (3 with marriage). Now that that is out of the way about me; I love all things LIFE. I was born and raised in inner city Detroit, where I feel my hustle and drive was cultivated . Detroit is a land of beasts. No concern for one another and dog eat dog. To me its home, I grew up knowing no one would help me and if I want anything I better speak up and be willing to fight for it. Fast forward to my collegiate years, I landed in TN. I studied Animal Science and received a double major in Pre-Vet and Biology.
After graduation I started working at my all time favorite place in the world. A locally owned Reptile specific exotic pet store. It was a dream job I loved everything about it (except pay). I was excited to go in everyday, I loved the animals and the opportunity to really live out my passion. Unfortunately after 3 years and only making 14 bucks an hour I decided (with help of fiancé) it was time for a real job. I ended up working for the most elite Ivy league school in the south in Neurological research as a research assistant(Boring af), Once I rubbed shoulders and got to know everyone, the secret was out that I was a wild man not to be cramped in a office. I ended up becoming the manager of the primates. I was in charge of all things Monkey. I ensured PHD's and their grad student's didn't hurt the animals in anyway and all experiments were safe, pain free and some type of enrichment for the monkeys. I loved this job I received high praise and was counted on by my furry friends. But the only downfall working with animals is they need attention daily no matter weekends, holidays nor short staffing. This wore on me and during this time I read the fast lane millionaire. (On the clock of course!)
Within 3 chapters into the book everything about my job seemed disgusting and beneath me. It was like the book opened up a part of my brain that slowly shut with age. I would not let my life be determined by someone else's signature on my check. My whole life I have been considered more intelligent than average, I have always been optimistic, confident and a hustler. I always felt where there is a will there is a way and the book brought that back out of me. I asked myself why?.. Why does all my frustrations started with "they wont" " I cant because" or "No I cant"? Why?.. I couldn't answer. I knew just then Its time to go.
I left that job for a cozy 9-5, salaried, management position in insurance. wtf was I thinking?. I just received 2 licenses to sell insurance with 2 more coming in a week and I know I don't want to be an insurance salesman but I figured it would allow me more free time as its a commission/salary position. I been working here since Jan. 2014 and I just about realized there is no excuse if I am going to be happy I need to be free. and If I want to get free I need to take It into my own hands completely!
Now I am here, I have been a member here for quite sometime, Trying to soak up knowledge and contribute where I can.
I am finally posting a intro in hopes to really become a member of this community and give back.
I have become a information hoarder and read books, blogs and listen to podcasts constantly. I am really looking to take action and destroy limiting beliefs holding me back. They should really warn that taking in so much info without use can become depressing.
Either way This is my journey to ultimate freedom. I hope to help young people in my stage of life breakthrough limiting beliefs by being an example. I seek daily Progress over Perfection.
P.S. : My limiting beliefs are, 1. Now that I am in the family man stage of life its too late. I cannot take the risks of loss to become an entrepreneur because I have 2 people to take care of and feed.
2. I am making 35k+ commission, I have a degree and many years of experience yet I have had the hardest time getting a decent paying job (always meant to be means to an end). If I can get past this last bit of uncertainty I know Myself an my family will be fast lane.
My son just turned 2 and is so bright, I wish to give him the best education possible and the best example of a man so he realizes as an adult that you DO NOT have to be an employee. He just needs an example.
I am here humbly seeking to help and start a positive energy source.
