I'm a 17-year-old junior in high school. I've been working at Wendy's, my first job, for about 4 months now; my paycheck is great and all (as much as $500 a month is :smug2
but after finishing MJ's book last week, I have been absolutely sold on entrepreneurship. I'm not going to go out and quit my job and declare myself a business-less entrepreneur, but I want to get started on that road ASAP!
My mentality, that which is preached in the book, is pretty alien for a student in my setting. I'm in the IB (international baccalaureate) program at my school, which basically provides accelerated college courses and rigorous coursework and an enriching, cultural education and yada yada yada.
Honestly, I and all of my peers feel that IB is just a load of homework and assessments (with the exception of Philosophy and Foreign Languages, which I feel are my only "enriching" classes) for a measly "IB Diploma" at HS graduation, a sexy GPA, and a better chance of getting into college. Essentially, the program heavily values a college education, BA and post-graduate alike. Boo. I'm not saying that going to university is a waste of time, but the program basically sets you up for a slowlane life. Become an entrepreneur after slaving away in high school with no social life? Baloney! Radical! I haven't talked to any of my friends about graduating from college *without* a traditional job. And if I did, I'm sure they would look at me as if I had 3 heads.
ANYWAY! I'm excited to get started on the road to Fastlane, especially so early
I notice that dozens of millionaire-16-year-olds are already ahead of me, but hey, I'm just a few years from reaching where they are!
