I am a psychotherapist who's niche is helping people determine if a relationship is right for them. In partiuclar my job is to help clients understand their own attachment patterns so they can make more mindful choices.
"
Frustrated falling into toxic relationship patterns not knowing why?
Unappreciated placing others’ needs ahead of your own?
Exhausted trying to keep your relationships afloat?
Fearful of losing yourself in your relationships?"
the page is lighthousecounselling.ca, any critiques on the page itself are welcome.
I'm actually a bit of a crossroads as even though I am in the process of setting up a private practice, I want to create more passive forms of income. I am not sure what direction to take, and apart from websites, I don't really know of any other therapists locally in this niche I can query. I am toying with the idea of creating a program to help people better understand their attachment type so they can make informed decisions on choosing the right partner, whether to remain with the one they're with etc.
My style is based on attachment theory which breaks each person's attachment style into 1 of 3 categories: two insecure types: Anxious and Avoidant, and Secure type (based on the research of Mary Ainsworth, John Bowlby, among others).
I see a lot of my fellow therapists struggling to make end's meet, failing to keep the pipeline filled, most of them are generalists (not having any particular niche - which I believe is huge mistake). I see myself more as an neophyte Entrepreneur first, and a therapist second. I am passionate about issues of co-dependency around people who feel stuck in their relationships and believe this is a large untapped area in spite of all the self-help books out there.
I want to create something more engaging, maybe even a workbook of sorts. Something very hands-on, structured and practical to help people take a more objective measure of the current state of their relationships, and to elucidate why specifically they keep making poor decisions in partners.
Right now I had an idea of creating some sort of pre-packaged online program to offer prospective clients where they pay a fixed price of $150, which is still far less than going to a therapist in person where a typical session rate is $120/50 minutes (to those willing to pay that).
