Hello Fastlaners,
I've been lurking for a few weeks now, reading this forum and assimilating a lot of very valuable information. So I already would like to thank you all for the golden nuggets of business wisdom I've been able to gather so far. In the meantime, I've been reading The Millionaire Fastlane (thank you MJ for writing this book and sharing your experience !). And thinking. Making plans. A lot of plans. Oh, and already taking some preliminary actions as well.
But let me introduce myself first.
29 years old, from Brussels, Belgium.
Against all odds, 5 years ago, I got a pretty nice job in the financial industry. At the time, I was really thrilled, thinking I was on the road to make it and get rich. The years passed, I got promoted, got some (small) raises, could afford to take a mortgage and buy an nice apartment downtown, got married, took another credit for a nice car, and so on... But I was wondering why I wasn't rich yet, despite all the nice things I could afford.
Typical slowlane mindset, and I didn't even knew it.
And then, 2 months ago, I came across a copy of The Millionaire Fastlane . And I woke up.
Today, I'm still on the slowlane, and will probably remain there for some time. But at least I know where I am, and I know there's a faster lane somewhere. I just don't know if I'm really ready to switch to it. I still need the courage to do it. I've been radically jumping out of my comfort zone a couple of times, but that's different.
I don't really know what my fastlane will look like. I have a few ideas, but nothing really clear so far. That's why I joined this forum.
So far, I'm not ready to quit my slowlane job, but I'm looking in two directions :
By joining this forum, I hope I'll be able to clarify my own thoughts, and maybe help others in similar situations to do the same.
Thanks again everyone, I'm really glad a forum like this one exists !
(I apologize if my English is far from perfect, this is not my mother tongue !)

So far, I'm not ready to quit my slowlane job, but I'm looking in two directions :
- I already took one first small step to get on a fastlane : my wife and I bought a plot of land at a huge discount (like only 15-25% of the price of similar plots in the area). There's an old mobile home on the land, so our plan would be to renovate it, and flip it. And then doing it again and again until we can afford to buy a multi-units rental property. And then use the incoming cash-flows to repeat the whole process again.
- I'm also thinking about creating some websites. The first one would be a purely informative one, just to teach myself about web development (I've not had a website since the late '90s). And then maybe creating something more complex, and more monetizable.
By joining this forum, I hope I'll be able to clarify my own thoughts, and maybe help others in similar situations to do the same.
Thanks again everyone, I'm really glad a forum like this one exists !
