I have a niche which I would like to venture into, and have set out a plan of action on how to market my product and to get sales. A lot of my advertising will be done organically through social media, along with small adverts on relevant social media accounts to try and drive sales.
I realise that I could link to eBay or Amazon for customers to actually purchase my item, but as it is relatively expensive for what it is, I would like a website to give off a more professional and luxurious feel. The product I am going to sell goes for on average £10-15 for a good one, and I am looking to sell mine for £40-45.
I will be starting with just 1 or 2 products so the web design won't be too challenging to start off with and I am going to give this a go myself.
My question here is does anyone else think it will be beneficial to myself to actually build the website, or should I just try to sell through Amazon and eBay to validate the idea first? As I won't be paying someone else for the web design I don't actually mind spending the time on it myself as it will also help me learn a new skill.
I am also looking for a host that offers a free .co.uk (as I'm based in the UK) and also a host that offers unlimited websites. Can anyone recommend anyone? Also, does anyone know if it actually makes a difference if I go with a .co.uk or .com when I am based in the UK?
