How do I approach restaurant owners? I just bumped into my first unfair advantage

I've been keeping my eyes open for opportunities for a few months now.
A friend from Thailand came over, he has multiple businesses (importing medical equipment from Germany is one of them).

We went to a Thai restaurant and he noticed they didn't serve the food on banana leaves like they do in Thailand, also lime leaves were hard to come by, according to the owner. He proposed to send me boxes of fresh Asian produce using fast shipping methods, and he told me to do some market research, try to be a supplier for the European market (I'm in Belgium).

I don't know a thing about Thai restaurants and their supply prices and issue's, so my idea is to talk to them! Just have a conversation and find out if they need anything fixed in regards to food supplies.

Does anyone have any advice to a way in? How can I approach these people and ask for a conversation? (Eating out in a Thai restaurant every week is not an option I'm afraid)
