Hey Guys,
I switched to a new accountant this year, and while he is about 50% the price of my last accountant, he doesn't keep my books for me. He asks that I add up everything, and bring it to him at the end of each year.
Considering I'm used to dropping a huge cardboard box on my accountants desk and walking away until I get the call to pick it up -- Naturally this year resulted in a mad dash to get everything tallied up and organized, which took me a couple weeks to do -- and ended with me cursing a lot that I didn't keep my books better organized for the year. I have an S-Corp, and LLC, and my personal stuff -- which made it all the more difficult to keep seperate...
So I'm interested to hear how everybody here keeps their books organized (Or if they even do?) -- Quickbooks? Notepads? Seperate shoeboxes for each thing?
So far my method has been 1 big box that every receipt gets tossed into. Not very efficient, I know
haha I also try to charge all expenses to certain credit cards, so I can just keep those statements for tax time, and not worry about a million receipts. (Still requires me to do a lot of adding, and organizing at year end though)
