One of the new Kickstarter campaigns I'm working on is about to shoot it's main video, and I've been tasked by my mentor to find a female actor to be in it. The problem is, I've put out several ads on various channels and through friends, and have come up empty. Google has been of no help so far, and my deadline is fast approaching.
I started the search about a week ago. Since then, I put several (very) unsuccessful ads into craigslist and also had a look at Model Mayhem, but to no avail.
So far, I've gotten a grand total of 3 responses from potential candidates, but they're all completely wrong for the demographic we're going for. I had two that were recommended to me via friends, but they both flaked. The video shoot is going to be on Wednesday, and right now I'm sweating bullets. I talked to my mentor/boss about it, but he sounds like he'll be disappointed if I can't find someone.
Which translates into bad times for the future of my mentee status.
I'm guessing that most of you guys have put together a product video of some kind before, and I'm wondering where you find your models/actors? Do you guys have any resources that you turn to when you need to hire specifically female talent? What do you do in situations like this, with a big deadline coming up where something important is hinging on your success?
