Hi guys,
I have a question about hobbies. I am currently in the start-up phase of a new company. (I have an idea and I am doing market research regarding value skews, possible problems customers have...).
What do you do with your hobbies in such a phase and later on? Do you stop completely until the company is running? If you continue with your hobbies, how much time do you invest in them?
I have way to little time do do all the hobbies I am interested in. Since I'm interested in a lot of things, I could easily bring it up to 20 or more hobbies if I had the time. So I have to prioritize, which leads to me wanting to do the few things I focus on basically every day. I've found that, because of that, over time my hobbies feel less like fun and more like a commitment/obligation (especially the hobbies where regularity is important, like learning an instrument or language, which are most of my hobbies).
This then leads to the point that the hobbies eventually become an item on my to-do list, which is already long enough with a job, family and company to start. The result is excessive stress because the to-do list is very long every day and often unmanageable. In the evening, I then take a look at the list and see all the things I haven't done - which in turn leads to self-reproach and stress.
I mean, I know I have kind of a problematic relationship to my hobbies, but somehow I've always had that. On the other hand I know, that hobbies are important in order to not burn out and relax (but my hobbies seldom feel like that).
How do you go about it? Any advice?
Thank you.
