I have an active software project currently that is becoming quite large and it has taken a lot longer to complete than I first anticipated. I am finding that the longer that this project takes, and the more 'complex' the logic becomes, the more I am needing to keep track our my team of software developers to ensure that all items are being 'approved' and or must give more thorough feedback/scope, so to speak.
The structure I have in place at the moment is essentially myself submitting word docs/mocs to my head developer, and then he will communicate this through his 'team' and action the requests at whatever process he sees fit.
The issue is, that the grander the project becomes, the more difficult I am finding the communication between myself and my head developer and is becoming more and more distorted and disjointed as I am struggling to keep an eye on all of the items I want delivered within the timeframe that was agreed, and or, the correct way in which the item was supposed to be completed in the first place.
What I am needing advise of if possible, is to see if a system even exists in the first place, is some form of 'portal' that I can have set up and create 'the project' within this portal, and assign these individual items to the developers and be able to provide them with feedback etc as the project is being created. In this portal they would be able to send screen shots or provide active URL's also so that I can follow there progress and ensure that they are delivering each request and allow me to sign off on these project items.
Does anyone know of anything, website or software that is available for entrepreneurs/business owners to be able to communicate with their developers in this manner?
Apologies for the long winded post, but i'm becoming a little frustrated the further and further I get into this project and feel as if there must be a much simpler and effective way to oversee this project, especially now given how much this thing is costing me!
