If you are an electrician in Boston, your keyword is “Pest Control Boston”
Now you will be ranking within a 6 km radius, but it’s hard to rank past 6 km because more local companies will beat you by proximity.
But what you can do is make 5 GMBs scattered around your city so that you can rank across a 30 km radius and get 100 calls/month instead of 20. A lot of profiles get instantly suspended in spammy categories but here’s how you can avoid this:

- Place your business in the center of your city if possible (being in the center of a city reaches more searches via proximity than being on the edge of the city)
- Add the keywords you want to rank for into your name
- Get 15+ reviews that include photos and the keywords you want to rank for
- Add 3+ Q&A questions that mention your keywords
- Add 3+ products that mention your keywords (you can add the equipment you use even if you don’t sell it)
- Set your page hours to 24/7 (Google prioritizes businesses that are open when the user searches)
- Build a website with a headline and text about your keyword
