Gday everyone!
I have been reading through the forum for a while and thought I might write this post with the hope of inspiring others and keeping myself motivated and accountable.
While I will not tell you all what my business is, I will go through the details of it and tell you all what I have done and plan to do to take it to the next level.
Firstly here is a little bit about myself. I have just finished school and had no ambitions to go to uni, much to the delight of my parents (sarcasm). "But you are smart, you are wasting your potential" I have been told numerous times. While I understand where they are coming from, business is my passion and I know that it can provide me with the lifestyle that I want, so that is what I am going to do.
I started my business around 3 years ago, it began more as a hobby, just something I would do every now and then and it is still by no means a full time thing, at least not yet.
In terms of profit, yes the business has made a bit of money which I intend to re-invest back into the business. Money is not my motivation and it is secondary to the learning that has and will take place, which is priceless!
I will now explain the process of my business so you can all see how simple it really is.
In a nutshell I manufacture my own product and sell it.
Yep that simple really, I build something that people value . If you can make something and people are willing to buy it at a price where revenue>expenses then you have a business.
The steps that I have taken to get where I am now (put as simply as possible):

My plan now is to hire employees to manufacture my product so that I can focus my efforts elsewhere. Am currently working out the logistics and finding out who I have to talk to in order to see if this is feasible. I am working out a system so that a process can be followed in order to produce my product.
See the thing is I have big ideas and am honestly getting sick of manufacturing (too repetitive)

But what if you fail? I hear people say! Well I don't really care to be honest, as far as I'm concerned I have nothing to lose. If it all fails I'll try something else!
I hope that this post may inspire others to take action. If you are unsure if something will work just try it, what have you got to lose?
I started this business with no investment and have re-invested all the profits. It can be done!

- I was in the shed tinkering around and made something (won't say what it is and does not matter anyway)
- I got better and better at making that thing
- Got inspired by a teacher I had and decided to see if I could create a business around what I was making.
- Created a website (used wix which is super simple)
- Did a few market stalls with some great success and some failures (learning experiences)
- Decided to see if any shops would stock my product. So I visited a total of three shops in the town I lived in, not sure what to expect. All three said yes, which I was not expecting, so I picked the one that best suited my product.
- Got my product stocked in a few other shops in other cities/towns near where I live.
- The lady that first stocked my product put my name in for this big exhibition. As a result I got sponsored a stall valued at around $800!
- Spent a year getting stock up for this exhibition, my Dad helped. Remember this was by no means a full time thing and was still selling to shops, at markets/events and on my website.
- Got a ton of publicity for this exhibition, was on tv in the newspaper and on the radio!
- Did well at this exhibition which went for four days and sold a lot of stock
And so that brings us to the present...

- getting my product into more stores (have been reluctant due to not being able to keep up with supply)
- building up my social media profiles
- getting traffic to my website (have had sales but am getting very little traffic)
- experimenting with ads (both online and offline)
- expanding my product range (move into different niches)
- learning more! (very important)
But what if you fail? I hear people say! Well I don't really care to be honest, as far as I'm concerned I have nothing to lose. If it all fails I'll try something else!
