Hello,
I would like to start approaching influencers.
I've been using FB Ads and IG to market my brand, which has been working great, it's been quite consistent. Out of luck, one of our buyers was an influencer himself, and being the generous person he was, he made a quick blog post about our company. Oh gee, this exploded our sales, then he did a newsletter shoutout 2 weeks later and it erupted the sales even more. - since then, I have been trying to figure out the best way to approach influencers, and the different kind of influencers that exist.
So far from my research and knowledge, digital influencers come in the form of (in order from low to high):
> Popular Instagrammers (everyday people in your niche who happen to get big on IG)
> Popular Bloggers (everyday people in your niche who happen to have a high traffic, high quality blog)
> Power Bloggers (Like company run blogs, who have 1000s of visitors every hour.
> Celebrities (In the millions here..)
My question is, how do you approach them? All my ideas come completely off little information I've read from research and just general light bulb moment ideas I've had in my head.
First idea was to offer them say $200-$500 to write about us (a one off thing) - say this would be a popular everyday person blogging. (Say guy who loves cooking, and writes a personal blog about it, then somehow has grown to 500-2000 visitors a day).
When I approached this idea to a blogger, he said he'd prefer to do an affiliate deal, so I offered 6-8% of the sale to him - which he was happy with.
What is the better way? A one time payout or an affiliate approach?
I assume the bigger you are, the more emphasis on it being an affiliate like set up.
How do you go about getting yourself featured on reputable blogs? For example, you create a new piece of tech and want to be on tech crunch - do these gigantic blogs tend to have set one time costs? Or a lifelong affiliate deal?
Last question, isn't using Google ads just the same as being featured on a popular blog?
