Thought I'd post this to give a few members a bit of a chuckle and to highlight that we all make stupid mistakes sometimes.
Amongst the many goals I've sent for myself, one is to declutter my home / life. I used to subscribe to the old "he with the most toys wins" philosophy but now I'm keen to get rid of a lot of the junk I've accumulated, and I figured I'd make a little money doing it.
So last night I listed my first item for sale on eBay and it sold within an hour. Awesome I thought. I wanted to provide top notch service and so I packaged the item that night to be posted the next morning.
So first thing today, I drove up to the local post office, handed over the item (even sprang the extra $2.00 to have it shipped overnight) and walked back to the car, feeling very chuffed with myself and the whole transaction.
When I got back to my car, I found a parking ticket on the windscreen. In my haste to get the package off to the buyer as quickly as possible, I'd inadvertently parked in a Loading Zone.
The cost of the ticket basically wiped out the money I made from my first sale. Fan-dam-tastic !!
Price of the item sold - $150.00
Cost of the parking ticket - $120.00
Lesson learned about parking in loading zones - Priceless
