Long time lurker but new poster.
I'm looking to get into a business, which is probably quite unfamiliar to most. However, I'm sure other people would have marketing ideas or have some experience in similar niches.
We are a manufacturer and would like to supply bulk to customers. Basically, my target market will be pretty high profile people. As we're the manufacturer, we will not be selling to the general public. Our customers will pretty much have to be at least millionaires. The product is pretty much tobacco.
The problem with this is, I have no idea how to find buyers.
In general, I've read a lot about internet marketing etc. And you know, selling website development etc. I've also worked in sales with cold calling however this is a different game altogether.
We are looking for customers around the world. Australia is pretty strict with these things so we are looking at Asia, the Middle East and Africa. We already have customers however we would like to expand.
- Would my best bet be contacting local sourcing agents in various countries?
- Or perhaps going to large shows/conventions as a business, with advertisements at the stall?
I have no problem travelling around to different countries. It's necessary to any way when we are dealing with this type of business. So I'm happy to hear any ideas even if they include meeting face to face in other countries.
Since it's going to be hard to find my would-be clients and because this is a very small target market in which most people can't afford, it's probably not worth the time to set up a website with SEO to generate leads. There aren't many searches with the keywords I would type in myself if I were looking for a manufacturer as ourselves. So I pretty much ruled that out.
Are there any 'networks', or anything I should know about?
Please note I am quite young and I don't have any experience in this field find extremely high profile clients. I'm open to any ideas so any comments are appreciated.
