I was toying around on some forums today at work trying to find niches that will allow me to speed up my progress to fastlane forever.
I have been doing some neat little research this week as I've learned many marketers who are numerous niches without the knowledge but are offering tremendous value to the consumers or businesses b/c they know how to find these niches and provide what they want.
I met some folks who started with affiliate review sites in competitive niches by searching out long tail keywords and buy type keywords in niches where people are wanting and will spend money. They sneak in the back door so to speak and offer exactly what people are looking for.
I read about a guy that doesn't even create the product itself, but finds info products, labels and brands them, creates the sales letter, builds a quality list, and markets the product. rinses and repeats and makes 5 figures a month.
I have come up with some ways to research niches using free tools on the web:
Other thoughts are more than welcome:
1. Pick a niche. Something you enjoy is better than something you hate, but as MJ states it must fulfill the entrepreneurial premise which is what you'll discover as you research. AS rich dad said there are few "true entrpereneurs" in this world
who can take an idea and turn it into millions/billions and do it over and over i.e. Richard Branson
2. Discover keywords and find what people want and are buying. use places like ebay, amazon, keyworddiscovery, clickbank, and others to figure out what is selling and why
3. Validate your market. Determine what they are wanting/searching for by asking questions, hunting them down where they hang out, finding reviews, complaints and more.
4. Find out what the competition is doing. How many folks are out there. Are they the same. Is there any to begin with? What can you do differently or better? How can you differentiate yourself as they say in business. I have found that something like your customer service can make you stand out as we've all been through the wonderful experiences of customer service.
5. Once you've done all this, what are you going to sell and how. Marketing seems to win in many if not all aspects. How many of us have bought mediocre products b/c they sold it like bandits. Grant it if it doesn't live up to the promises, then we don't go back or trust the business again.
I have seen and read many successful people succeed in odd niches and wierd businesses b/c they learned the one thing we all tend to forget...
Find what people want and are buying or are having issues with and fill that need!!!
Remember the B-I triangle the product/service is the least important aspect of any business.
Like to hear how you other marketers and e-biz folks find your niches
Also, I learned two things to expand your business:
1. Throw profits back into your business
2. Outsource intelligently
