What I'm doing is outlining a method to get all the same backlinks that your competitor has, without wasting your time getting links that just don't matter or aren't relevant. I've found some ways to make the process really easy (mostly thanks to Market Samurai).

Here's the basic jist of it:
1. Use market samurai to check out all the backlinks and sort by PR
2. double check that they aren't spam and are relevant using anchor text analysis
3. head to those sites and use different methods/tools to actually get the links from that site.
It's a really simple method if you think about it and apply it, and gets to be second nature apparently. I'm sure some of you know this already, but there's always new people coming in.
(btw snowbank, if you ever read this, then yeah, i think this might be a solution to the thing you were talking about with the payroll site and affiliates earlier this summer)
