Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of newbie internet marketers on here lately, and even though i've been going around and answering some questions, i thought that just starting some threads would be best.
What I'm going to lay down here is what I do every time I start a new affiliate marketing campaign with Clickbank or any other affiliate network (private ones included).
This is a pretty scientific "formula", but don't be daunted if your numbers don't match my suggestions exactly. It may just mean that you have to do a little extra work.
So here goes. This will help you guys test a product or niche before scaling it up, and will also make you money.
STEP 1: Find a product
Once you've selected a niche, find a product to sell. Here are some guidelines for product selection:
STEP 2: Grab some Keywords
Then you need to get TEN keywords that you'll target to promote your product. Here are the requirements for a good keyword:
Obviously with criteria like that, we're looking for long tail keywords (between 3-10 words). You may want to use a tool like Market Samurai to assist you with all this research.
STEP 3: Run a Trial Promotion
1. Buy a $1.07 .info domain at GoDaddy. It doesn't have to be keyword-specific, as long as it has to do with your product.
2. Redirect it to your affiliate link
3. Write one 300+ word article for each longtail keyword. Publish these articles at eZine Articles with a catchy resource box that presells your product and links to the .info you set up
4. Write another 3 or 4 articles and publish them on a blogger.com blog. Make sure they all have links to your .info as well
5. At this point I just give all those articles a little extra boost. I ping them all and use an indexing tool to submit them to search engines and "Stats" sites. I create RSS feeds for the eZine Articles, both ones at page2rss.com and custom-made ones. I then ping and submit those feeds with a software called RSSbot and also ping/submit the blogger.com feed
STEP 4: Track your results carefully and watch for sales
How many hits did your eZine articles get? Click-through rate? Make any sales? What was your conversion rate? Any visitors to your blogger site?
----
Now there's a lot of concepts in here that I only mentioned and didn't really explain, and maybe i'll make threads to explain those later. (Things like "presell", picking niches, writing good articles/resource boxes, domain setup, tracking stats, promotion, etc.)
Hopefully that'll help you guys for now.
Best of luck with internet marketing! :fastlane:

STEP 1: Find a product
Once you've selected a niche, find a product to sell. Here are some guidelines for product selection:
- Make sure there are at least 3 related products being sold online
- Make sure the product is niche-specific and maybe even specific to a micro-niche (i.e. instead of a Get Into Shape eBook, maybe a Get Great Abs eBook)
- Head over to the Google Keyword Tool and put in the product's name. Look for keywords related to the product like "productname review" or "buy productname" and make sure that they have SOME search volume. If all of those keywords say "Not Enough Data", then it might not be a great product
- (If you're using Clickbank, look for a product that has between 30 and 100 gravity. That way you find a product that's selling, but doesn't have too much competition)
STEP 2: Grab some Keywords
Then you need to get TEN keywords that you'll target to promote your product. Here are the requirements for a good keyword:
- In the Google Keyword Tool, must have a Global Search Vol. of over 1,000
- Search the keyword in Google like this: allintitle:"keyword" If there are less then 2000 results, then the keyword is a great target
- Google the keyword normally, and check to see if there are at least 3 Web 2.0 sites ranked in the Top 20 (web 2.0 meaning sites like eZinearticles, squidoo, hubpages, articlesbase, etc.)
- Check the number of backlinks to the top pages in Yahoo Site Explorer. The average number should be less then 150.
