Hey guys, I just wanted to show you that it's possible to make money anytime you want with some dedicated HUSTLE with an example from the past weekend. This especially goes for the YOUNGSTERS on this forum such as myself (I'm 19). No excuses!
So, I've been buying and selling since I was maybe 15 or 16, I really don't remember, I've repeated this process many times with success.
I made about $300 dollars for about 2 hours of work over the past weekend. (I make this much every WEEK at my current job.) Just from finding an item on Craigslist and reselling on eBay.
Tips for finding items to resell on Craigslist: Look at items in a market you already know! For me this is all sorts of photography/film equipment as I wanted to be a filmmaker prior to wanting to go "fastlane". If you know bikes, look for bike stuff. If you know video games, look for video gaming related items.
If you don't know anything, then pick a category and familiarize yourself with it. Familiarize yourself with typical prices, typical higher priced brands, train yourself to see an items value when you look at it.
I had some downtime at my job, so I hopped on Craigslist and found this in a matter of minutes.
Note that this post is about a month old. This is a little technique of mine that I'm revealing to you. The older the post is, the higher there is of a chance of them accepting a low ball offer. Or at least rebutting it to something close to your offer.
The first thing you have to do when you think you have found an item of value, is to price check it on eBay. EBAY IS THE UNIVERSAL PRICE CHECKER, always reference eBay for the value.
You know when you go to a pawn shop to sell an item, and they click some keys on the keyboard, looking on their screen before giving you an offer? They don't have some sort of internal coded price checker. They are checking EBAY.
In this case, the item price ranged from around $400-$550 depending on condition. I figured being a US seller, with the condition on the Craigslist ad seeming pretty good, could get around $400ish. So I took a chance and gave a low ball offer of $200.
And, guess WHAT. She accepted immediately . No counter offer. This does not always happen, but it occasionally does. I was expecting a counter offer of maybe $250-$300, which I would have counter offered depending on what it was, because I would still be able to make money.
About a 45 minute drive later, I was at her house, and you know what she said to me?
"I've had it on Craigslist for so long, I even forgot about it. So the first person who offered me some decent cash, I was willing to take."
This was confirmation for me that my technique actually holds some weight. Most people think the same thing with their old Craigslist posts.
Don't worry though, I don't just do this for older posts.
You can also find an "incorrectly" priced item on Craigslist as well. Simply put, an item that has been priced way lower than it's true (ebay) value.
All you do is buy it (always give a lower offer first), and put it up on eBay. This was covered in the Craigslist thread somewhere on this forum.
I posted the lens on eBay a couple hours later. One and a half days later - boom.
PROFIT$!!!!
This is NOT my only time doing this, I have repeated this multiple times, with ANY cash amount.
(examples)
Buy an item for $50, sell for $120
Buy an item for $75, sell for $150
Buy an item for $25, sell for $50
You don't always need to make 100% back either, I've made anywhere from 25% to 200%+ profit on items.
You can start small, make some money, and then go straight back to Craigslist to turn that money into more money.
I've done it soooo many times over the years, this has saved my a$$ multiple times between jobs, or just when I want to hustle it out when I actually have a job and want to turn my fixed income into more income.
There are always items to flip, no matter your location. If someone dropped my in another state right now, I could replicate it again. No matter where you are, there are items you can flip.
Don't use excuses, go out and HUSTLE.
P.S.
I've done this not only with Craigslist, but with garage sales, and neighborhood sales as well. You will not BELIEVE the items of value you can find at a garage sale and with even typically lower prices than Craigslist. People practically give their shit away. There are literally garage sale pro's who go out every weekend with a truck and stock on items to resell.
Take a Saturday morning, bring some cash, and go crazy. I've made hundreds doing this. No lie.
