Why?

The Swiss have tight fiscal policy and aren't printing money like it's wallpaper ... budget surpluses instead of deficits ... and the last time the US hit a heavy recession it was considered a safe haven.

I consider it an insurance policy, a hedge against a massive USD devaluation, so I'm not expecting it to make money unless our worst fears materialize. Let's just say that as an hedge, I'm hoping I don't have to call it into play.
