This is the first store I've ever started, so I didn't execute the start-up all that well, but it's been a learning experience.
First off, here's my website. I dont have a real domain because I'm not totally finished putting up content, and I have yet to contact manufacturers: http://amfez.wbgun.servertrust.com/
I've spent a while designing the template and it's done except for a few touch ups here and there, now all I have to do is put content up. If you click Exterior youll see an unfinished page I'm working on now, so the design is basically finished, but content has just started.
The idea of the store, is that I plan to sell OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and accessories ( detailing equipment, maintenance packages, etc) for late model M-series BMWs like the M3, M5, M6, 1M, Z4M, X5M, and X6M. By late model I mean after year 2004. My biggest competitor would be turnermotorsport.com
I decided to go over my keywords some more and check out my market again before going any further, since I've recently started worrying about manufacturers not wanting to dropship or supply me. My original keywords I used before starting the website:
bmw parts - 27,100 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw accessories - 6,600 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw aftermarket parts - 1,600 local monthly searches using [exact]
Now, those arent bad, but I'm selling parts for late-model (2004-20xx) BMW M-series cars, and if you take specific keywords for that, you get:
bmw m3 parts - 210 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw m3 accessories - 210 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw m3 aftermarket parts - 46 local monthly searches using [exact]
Now, that's jsut for the M3. There's also the M6, M5, 1M, Z4M, X5M, and X6M. But another thing, is I only sell for later models after 2003. I'm kind of stuck on if this would be worth it. If I add up all the keywords like above, with (X) being the model of BMW, I get this:
bmw (X) parts - 290 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw (X) accessories - 289 local monthly searches using [exact]
bmw (X) aftermarket parts - 76 monthly searches using [exact]
Those numbers are terrible. Turnermotorsport as PR of 04, and 286 root domain links, and I have to beat them. I can abandon this idea before wasting money on an LLC or setting up all the content. If I abandon the idea, I have a really nice template I can re-use for any store I want, so it really wouldn't have been a waste of time, since all my time so far has gone towards the template. What do you guys think? I wish I could just somehow see how well turnermotorsport is doing, that way I'd have an idea of rather it's worth it or not. See, with the M-series BMW's if you want aftermarket parts, you either buy from turner or directly contact the company who makes the part and order from them, and no one likes doing this. My plan was to make a one-stop shop for anyone wanting to work on their BMW, but I'm starting to have doubts. The only person who'd use my store is someone who owns an M-series BMW that was made sometime after 2004, also wants to actually modify their car or buy an OEM part for it, and at the same time can find my website and chooses my website over another one.
I just need some input.. Thanks for reading this huge wall of text.
