Hey! Honestly, I really suck at introductions, they always sound so cheesy... But what the hell!
My name is Lee; I’m 18 and currently a student in the UK, in England. I study biology at university and after finishing my first year, I’m not really sure where it is going to leave me. I’ve always been interested in business and against the idea of a job; I have read the book and learnt a lot from it, and I am still learning by reading some of the more interesting chapters again. However, I didn’t need the book to realise that getting a job is a bad idea and that I would be in theory wasting my life by doing so.
When I started college (Age 16-18 here), I started a business studies course but dropped out of it after the first year instead of completing it for the full two years. My main reason for dropping out of the course was that it wasn’t teaching me much valued information, but rather telling me how to be a good little employee, rather than start or run my own business, and so I dropped out.
Unsure what to do with my life, once I had finished college, I had no money or no job prospects to do anything with really, and so I started university to get my degree in biology, biology is something that really interests me, how the body works and other various things, and so I am glad of my decision to study at university as I am greatly enjoying my course. I think attending university was a great decision for me; I’m studying something I really enjoy, and have a lot of free time to do what I want with and learn about other things such as business etc. I even have ~4 months of over the summer currently with really nothing to do, I could get a temporary job over the summer to earn some money but I really can’t bring myself to go back into some boring retail job (I had a part time job in a shop for 2 years whilst I was at college… Not the most exciting time of my life). And so, I am taking the time over the summer to learn as much as I can about business and maybe start some projects to start earning some passive income whilst attending university, which I could develop into a more lucrative business once I leave university.
It might seem pointless to be studying biology for three years when I am most probably not going to do anything with it, but the way I see it is allowing a lot of free time to start some projects and start earning some passive income whilst not being tied to a job. Also, my degree has gave me a couple of inspirational ideas of which I am hoping to expand on and do something with, using my degree knowledge to help me, so it may result in being worth something .
Well, that’s me, university student hoping to do something with all my free time rather than wasting it and doing nothing all day, I am excited to be part of this community and hope I can contribute something valuable to some of the discussions .
