Hello!

My name is Alfred and I posted an introduction a couple months back but have basically stayed in lurking mode after that because of some transitions in my life.

I have now begun committing to a business that my partner and I are hoping to start receiving pre-orders for in November and doing the full product launch and delivery in December.

After doing the math, we need a minimum of 26 subscribed customers in order to pay for the initial investment and not go into the red.

We will be using Shopify 29/m + chargify app at 129/m.
Payment gateway beanstream at 12/m 15c transaction fee and 3.15% blended.

For the month of October we will be focused entirely on contacting suppliers in order to get the most reliable and competitive wholesalers on board, figuring out the cost of custom packaging (which may or may not change the minimum of 26 subscriptions), getting all the materials for the site up ready to be loaded on Dec 1st 00:00.

The idea was to have a landing page describing our subscription and having a call to action to pre-order for certain pre-order only incentives. Also, we will be doing some community building via social media which will focus on actual community building and core value anchoring to the values that our company and our products will represent.

My question now:

We want to push as much marketing and customer acquisition as possible to garner pre-orders for the month of November that will reflect (perhaps) potential for customers to want to pre-order the subscription to give to others as gifts for Christmas.

Is one month usually a reasonable amount of time to acquire a set of minimum required customers? If we do not reach the 26 customers that we need, do we just shut it down?

Any other questions about my business is also welcome.

Thank you Fastlane Community!

Alfred
