Ideas for Liquidating Inventory

Hey everyone -

I know this isn't exactly fastlane, and I want to make sure I'm not breaking any rules, so I will keep this simple. I'm looking for some ideas on how to liquidate an inventory.

Long story short, I have a friend who was a distributor for some lines of eyewear that the manufacturer decided to start selling direct. Now my friend has about $1mm invested in about 40,000 frames and is motivated to just let them all go. I'm guessing you could sell them piece by piece and make some good money but that will take too long.

He has tried calling other places that sell frames and offered to dump them but hasn't had any luck. I've thought about just selling them online, but then you have to deal with returns etc, and it's a lot of human resources for just one liquidation.

I know a lot of you are familiar with wholesale / bulk purchases so I figured I'd throw it out there and see what ideas or resources you might have.
