As none of you probably know, I'm a young author that writes both poetry and fiction novels. I got a nice slap in the face when I realized that writing the book was 25% of the battle, and that the real war consisted in creating an audience and marketing your creation to a world of polarized consumers.
As I've been learning more about the marketing process and the numerous social media/advertising options that I had, I finally decided to give blogging a try to build a fan base that would take interest in my books and maybe even help other authors.
Here is my problem: I have no idea what blogging really is to be quite honest. I know its like a group site that discussions are held, but what discussions? I've been working on this blogging website for 3 weeks now and nothing has come to me yet about what the blog should indefinitely be about. I do not know my target audience nor my target purpose for the blog.
I'm 17 and should most definitely be a little caught up with technology (this was definitely an eye opener), but blogging is a confusing concept that I haven't quite grasped yet. I'm not asking for ideas or even help on my blog specifically, but I am looking for any advice on how blogs work in general. I've looked up various help sites and read up on blogs, but it just hasn't clicked on what it really does, especially when the blog is to market your book writing. How does one make a popular blog with popular topics while still advertising your work to the audience?
This should be a wonderful adventure. With my practice in programming, entrepreneurship, authorship and blogging, I've got a lot of diverse ideas going on as a potential Fastlaner. Of course, over the course of the next year or so before I go into college, I need to focus on one main highway in the Fastlane, or at least combine those 4 to create a complex business system like MJ talks about in his book.
Right now for me its EDUCATION EDUCATION EDUCATION! Since June it has been a learning process for me as a Fastlaner, and I think that this is a time where I get experience in learning about the process of creating a business system. The more experience I get, the more prepared I will be when the opportunities come up for me to build my own living. My process starts here at 17! I'm so excited!
