I really debated on whether or not I should post this, as it isn’t really considered Fastlane just yet, but I finally decided to make this post to show how grateful I am that I found this site.
Over the last year a lot of things in my life have changed- I dropped out of college, my job is coming to an end next week, and over the last year I’ve been gaining the capital and experience needed to start my Fastlane business. During this period of time I’ve been feeling a lot of anxiety- anxiety that my decision to drop out of school was a mistake and that I would fall flat on my face. After I dropped out of school I had dozens of family members tell me that I was making a huge, life-changing mistake, and even though I have always been confident in my own abilities, hearing all of these people tell me that I was going to fail made me extremely anxious, especially during the first couple of months. But, even though I did have a couple of down moments this last year, this forum has really helped me stay motivated, and has helped me start taking real action- and it has helped me stay confident in myself even when people tell me otherwise.
My ultimate goal is to turn fast-food franchising into a Fastlane business by owning hundreds of units- but to become a franchisee, you need capital, and so that is what I have been concentrating on for about a year now. Over the last year and a half or so I have spent my time flipping random items, working my job as a nanny, investing in the stock market- and over this period of time I was able to make a little over 130k. I discovered this forum in March of this year, and while I have been gaining capital I have been trying to read and learn as much as possible from all of you, and it really has made a huge impact on my life.
Well, I am really excited because for the first time I am starting to see actual, physical progress. Last month I bought my very first multi-unit property. It is a small triplex building with 2 studio apartments, and one 1-bedroom apartment. I spent the last few weeks remodeling the units, I added wood floors, replaced some of the microwaves, ovens, a fridge, painted the walls, and replaced fixtures and fans. Now, about 3 weeks after I bought it, I have found tenants for all three units, which is something I am extremely excited about! I have owned rental properties in the past, but this is my first rental property that I bought on my own without any partners, while also handling the remodeling, the leases, the tenants- everything that needed to be done was handled by me with limited help from outside people, which was a huge step for me.
Also, I started the application process for a few different fast-food concepts. Being a 20-year-old college dropout I was really worried that I wouldn’t be considered a desirable candidate for a franchisee. But, I found out a couple of days ago that I have officially been approved by two concepts and am waiting to hear the final word from the third. I am currently looking for locations for my restaurant, and if all goes as planned I should have my first unit opened in the spring.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum, you have all been invaluable in my progress over the last few months and I truly believe I would not be where I am today without this forum. I realize that I still have a long way to go and that I am no where near Fastlane yet, but for the first time in my life I am action taking instead of action faking and I am starting to see my business unfold, and I have you all to thank for that.
