Hi everybody!
After reading the forums for a few hours, I decided this was a great place to register and chat about personal development and entrepreneurship. This is a really great forum and I am glad I decided to join it.
Background:
My story:
Have not been what most people around me would consider successful. They have witnessed me fail at 5 venture. 2 on books. 3 off books. After taking time off and reflecting on past actions, I understand now that I am still underdeveloped and need more time for growth. I have been focusing to hard at trying to beat the game and make a million dollars as fast as possible.
I have grown up a little bit and that has now changed. I am now taking my time reflecting on past experiences and learning from them. You can see where your incompetence lies in a deep meditation cycle on focusing on the event.
Venture #1:
I was about 15 I had just read the RDPD book at the end of May and summer was just around the corner. I decided I was going to become a business owner and mind my own business.
I organized my team of myself and 2 friends from around the neighbor hood and we began knocking on doors offering lawn services. We charged $30 per lawn and offered additional weed waking, tree trimming, and yard maintenance services.
The start: It went up fast. I knocked on about 300 doors within 4-5 weeks. I gathered about 35 GOOD and STEADY clients who needed their lawn finished on a weekly basis. So, I had a pretty decent foundation within a month or two. I was handling all the communications management myself on the phone & off the phone. LoL. I was doing the invoicing and issuing of the receipts. My mom was the bank account holder. This may sound like a god send, but her financial education foundation is not very sound, even though I do love her dearly. She was more or less the depositor and withdrawaler because I was under 18 at the time.
Mid Venture: Everything was fine and smooth till about 3 months in. I had a good thing going until school began and my friends ditched me and called it quits. They decided that the lawn business was not as important as their school career. Even though we were grossing close to $4,000 a month and distributing the net only 3 ways. I believe it came close to about $1100-$1300 per partner each month. (Not bad for a summer gig and 3 incompetent kids.) I will tell you what I did with most of my earnings later on...
Exiting: After my friends had called it quits, I decided to try and find some new employees so I hired a girl a year younger than me and my spanish friend from down the street. We began immediately mowing and taking care of the 35 clients that I had established a good relation with. After about a week or so the girl decided not to show up after school one day. I called and called her phone and no body answered. Has never talked to me since then. So now it was me and Juan. We had 35 yards split between us and only about 4 hours of sun light after school. After about 3 weeks Juan finally gave up on me also and said see ya later. :smx19: It was now me and 35 clients. There is no way I could individually handle that kind of work so I needed a solution... fast.
I brain stormed for about 2 days and finally decided I could not go forward on my own. So, I finally broke down and hopped on craigslist.com. I posted an ad and sold the business! I cashed out for about $1000 even. The guy who bought the clients was excited about the new business and I believe he is still working it. I transferred all the equipment to him, all the clients, everything.
After it was all said and done, I pocketed about $5000 over the course of 4 months. And with cash in hand, this lead to venture #2.

Background:
I am 20 years old from Lake Park, Florida (small town in Palm Beach). Have been studying Entrepreneurship since I was 15. Mostly from a lower income family, that has not stopped my desire to make it big. I have been interested in building a Business and investing in Real Estate since the day I was handed a RDPD book by a friend. I have been a budding Entrepreneur since then. I sometimes feel like I am not getting anywhere, but then I realize I am actually more a head than I think.
Although, there is still a lot to learn and find out on this life adventure. Taking it one day at a time. :smug2:
