I think most of us here place more importance on having the freedom to direct our own lives than having a mansion or fancy cars, etc. I'm 23 years old and right now I haven't gotten to the point yet where I'm completely free. The other day my boss criticized me and gave me a warning for a mistake that I didn't even make and now he realizes his error but isn't man enough to come and apologize. If it isn't my boss breathing down my neck it's my co-workers conspiring against me and one another to get raises or promotions; no one really enjoys coming to work, we all just do it for the paycheck.
Having to work for and with people like that is the main reason why I'm motivated to start my own company and earn enough money so that I never have to work for anyone else again. I don't want to live my life as a pawn fulfilling someone else's dreams. It really eats at me having to work for other people. It amazes me how most people feel the same way but don't ever try to change their situation. I think that's the main quality that makes people like us different from most people; we try to improve our circumstances by starting a business whereas most people put up with the abuse of working for others because they're too fearful of losing their steady paycheck; to them money and health benefits are more important than freedom and happiness.
