So I don't watch TV much at all. Unless I'm sitting down to grab a snack or meal and the TV happens to be on, it's usually of no interest for me. My TV time is usually limited to movies or some documentary I've recorded.
Last week, I sat down to have dinner with my kid and she was watching a program called 'Impractical jokers'. Apparently one of her favorites, since I've seen it her watching it several times in the past. Now I had heard of the show from commercials but never really paid much attention. Throughout dinner, I actually became quite intrigued by it, not to mention it was pretty funny during some parts.
If you're not familiar with the program, it's a reality based show upon a group of four friends who do their best to force each other to embarass themselves in public.
For those who are familiar with the program, you may be thinking, what the hell does this have to do with entrepreneurship or "mindset, motivation, or choices".
Two things came to mind watching this program:
1) More often than not, they succeed in their tasks to get strangers to do and say things you wouldn't expect anyone to do. I was amazed what some people were willing to cooperate with once invaded by a complete and total stranger. Just another example of how action can elevate your beliefs on what is possible. I tried to convey this message to my kid to get her to be more assertive (not pushy, rude, or annoying)
2) When you break someones routine and/or catch them off guard, it's far easier to get them to agree to something. It's like you've short circuited their brain and they simply agree to things out of confusion.
Outside of it's entertainment value, it's was an interesting lesson on confidence for us both.
