Incorporating Charity/Donations into your value prop? (and testing it)

Has anyone incorporated a related charity/donation offer into your value prop, and tested it first?

Extremely broad example - you are selling environmentally friendly tissues - and for every box you sell you promise to donate $1 to XYZ environmental charity. You want to test this in a facebook Ad and see how this improves conversions before fully incorporating this into your model.

I assume if you decide to fully incorporate it you'd contact the charity and let them know - but otherwise for a test has anyone done this and just included for every purchase we donate $1 without "permission"?
