Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've posted, nonetheless started a thread. The past month or so I've been doing AdWords research to find an in demand product, read through the AdWords "manuals" and gotten AdWords certified so I'd know what I was doing.
I then sought out suppliers and have gotten connected with one that dropships. I'm selling archery and hunting bows. I've now setup my shop and started running ads last week. I only ran ads for about 3 days, and I've now stopped as my site was simply not converting. I was getting plenty of traffic at the desired CPC, but no conversions. I actually sold one product two days ago (after I had quit running ads, strangely enough). This was my first online sale ever and it was definitely exciting, but unfortunately at the current conversion rate (0.4%) my site is simply not sustainable.
I have a few beliefs on why my conversion rate may be so low. One is that a few major archery brands (Bowtech, Mathews, Bear) I cannot sell their items as I'm online only. I have made sure none of my ads are targeted towards searches that are brand specific to these brands though.
I've added chat to the site so that when I turn ads back on I can hopefully communicate with potential customers on the site and find out directly from them what they're looking for to determine if the brand problem is as big an issue as I suspect.
My next belief could be that it may not be easy for customers to find exactly what they're looking for. I'm considering adding a product filter so that customers may shop by left hand or right handed bows, draw weight, etc. So you can browse only Diamond right handed bows with a 40lb draw weight, etc.
If anyone has any experience with ecommerce and may have tips I'll gladly take them. Also I've linked to my site below as I'm open to any and all critiques, advice, opinions.
