Hello. New to the forums. I bought Unscripted on Audible after seeing it recommended in a YouTube video, and I’m currently halfway through.
Wow. The first part of Unscripted painted a picture of my life up until now.
I have been a classic Slowlaner all my life, working overtime for a Fortune 500 company, and not a lot to show for it. Late 50’s, a little over $100K in my 401K, with overwhelming debt, a mortgage, a worn out car that I still owe on, and on the brink of disaster. I have to mentally numb myself just to get through each day. When I’m not mentally numb, I am either fearful that I’ll die and leave my family destitute, or live a long life in poverty. It’s pretty bad when your exit plan is to hope for your death to be an accident so the indemnity clause on the employer-provided life insurance will kick in.
Unscripted has caused me to wake up, and I have gotten angry at myself for all the time and opportunities that I have wasted, and for taking advice from the wrong people. I desperately want and need to change, and I don’t want to be one of the people that MJ talks about who posts once and you never see again. I’m willing to give this an honest effort, and I welcome feedback from any of you who encountered the Fastlane principles later in life.
