I'm a 22 year old from Estonia and like many others, i was taught the slowlane since i was a teenager. For 4 years, i've been investing as much as possible of not-a-lot into the market. So far im nowhere.
I studied software development for 3 years (secondary education), which i was lead to believe that will get me a good paying job and a nice life. Turns out even starting jobs require 3 years of experience and knowledge in computer languages which were not taught in school and so on. After school i had mandatory service. There i thought about the military academy for the (seemingly to me) insane bonuses. Essentially free higher education, during the 3 year studies a 1k€ paycheck per month, afterwards a guaranteed workplace/job for 3 years for a minimum 2k€ per month, free apartment, free dental services and probably some other smaller things. But something always seemed off, like there's a catch.
I've got my first job working at a building supply store for a month now for a 1k salary and I have the military academy entrance exams in a month. I started reading the book (The Millionaire Fastlane ) last week and have been reading it as much as possible after work. And i think now i know the biggest catch to the academy now. Time and sanity. Reading the book also made me realize something that i thought was the key for so long now, which is to get rich or financially independent, i'd have to do something bigger than just invest in the market. Create something of value.
I do have to admit, i'm stuck at the idea stage, whereas everythink i come up with seems like it's a bit too hard for me to do or it's already been done. Though i suppose if it was easy, i would have done it already
Nevertheless i'm excited to properly start this journey! And at the age of 22, i think i still got lucky reading this book now rather than later.
I'm also fortunate to be in a position where i don't have any debts or loans and everythink i make, i pretty much keep. (Yes i'm living with my parents, yes i pay "rent")
