Hello Fastlaners,
I've been browsing the forum for a while now and decided I'm well overdue for an introduction. This is also my first step in getting myself to socialize online more. Many would say I'm talkative in person but it's never really carried over with online conversations for me. I feel this has been my biggest roadblock when trying to start my own business.
A little about my background, I currently work as a software engineer. I've read many of the posts about how learning to write software can lead to a desire to over optimize a product and I agree 100%. I see it at work every day and I've already spent years teaching myself to look at how much value for a customer additional code will actually add.
I decided to learn software engineering because of a love of tinkering and making things. It only took my first job out of college to see how little of these you really do on the job and how little a big company cares about your well being. I started looking into contract work or making an app or website to start a small business of my own.
I picked up some contract work but it always felt like I got lucky and it fell into my lap. I've created one website that I got myself to try out marketing with and gained some traction but I felt like it violated most of the rules of CENTS. I've recently been rethinking of how I can re-purpose for use with Youtube and NFT. More recently I've been working on a health and fitness website that I've made myself keep it as an MVP. I'm now to the point that I need to show it to users but I've been procrastinating reaching out to users in forums and other places online. I have another app idea in mind that a user has come to me asking to make but I want to learn from the work I've already done and completely vet the projects before I start another.
This has been a long winded way of saying: Hello to everyone in the forum. These posts are full of valuable information that have given me some great mindset changes. It's time for me to hold myself to being more accountable and put the knowledge to work.
