Hey, I’m Chris from Kenya, living in Toronto. Happy to be here. MJ Demarco was recommended by a friend, so I watched some YouTube videos, got the book and I’m fascinated. My ultimate goal is to attract around $1,000,000 per year net. It could take me 10-15years before I get there because my behavior is not congruent with that kind of income.

I have tried quite a number of things in the past…I started entrepreneurship when I was young without even knowing it. In standard 8 (grade 8). Internet was not available in Kenya and people were obsessed with celebrities. So I would go to the magazine shop and buy magazines like right on and word up… the ones with the big centerfold in the middle. The magazines would cost like 400sh and I would sell the centerfold for 250ksh and the colored portraits of rappers for 100sh. I would make profit in a day. A few months later the market matured and people knew where I was getting the magazines. So that was it.

Then 3-4 years ago I started making niche sites, I was inspired by a guy who called it niche marketing on crack! The niche sites were doing okay until Google brought down the hammer. That’s when I realized that I was relying only on one source for traffic to my websites. I had no control.

You would think I learnt my lesson, nope I joined an MLM. My friend recruited me and honestly it was just because he was my friend and the team was full of women... I just quit a few days ago and my friend offered to pay my maintenance fees ($100 per month) for the next six months if I stayed.

The guy was sold hard by this MLM, he thinks it’s not MLM, and while it seems like one of the better MLM companies out there, it’s still mlm and I don’t have control of the product or customers! I also thought it would be a great place to learn entrepreneurship but who wants to learn entrepreneurship from people who have a sales job and think they are actually running a business. I realized it was my uplines job to fill me up with emotions and have me buy tickets to some event and there is always an event. Or some products that I don’t need. Some are making $20,000 a month, but just a tiny switch in that compensation plan and that income can vanish in no time. I have learnt some relationship marketing from them, they are champions at selling and building relationships.

Now I have a bunch of ideas in my head, but I’m working on getting my skills right. I’m Currently working on creating persuasive messages (copywriting, video sales letters, newsletter marketing). I think this will help me get to my goals much faster.

I hope that being on this forum can help crystallize and refine my ideas and get me closer to that big number.
