Is Market Research needed, or just start?

Hi everyone, I am starting a website soon and I was wondering if it is worthwhile to gather market research in the form of primary/secondary data to validate my idea before I create a MVP. however, I was thinking about just starting and then having the market give me criticism/feedback based on my mvp. I would love to hear everyone else's opinions. Thank you.

I love this, that is all i needed to hear. I am not selling an actual product, more of a website that is a service but i would monetize through display ads/affiliate mkt/subscription and maybe licensing deal.
