I remember the moment my mindset shifted to the "freedom way of life". I just got promoted from a machine operator into manufacturing maintenance so I was excited about the pay raise and all the big money I was going to make. One of the older maintenance guys was retiring and somebody asked him what he was going to do after he retired. He replied, "I'm going to the coast and do some fishing." I asked him how long he was planning on being down there and he said, "I'm not sure yet, maybe a week, maybe a month, who knows?" I sat there in silence thinking to myself, "that is what I want to do! Go somewhere and enjoy myself and not having to worry about when I'm coming back to get back on somebody else's schedule!" Ever since that day I have been eager to free myself from the everyday work but I have not been successful yet. I have bounced from day trading to learning code to starting a service based business to starting an e-commerce business but after I dig deep into it some, I realize it is not what I want to do. I have finally decided to just work all the overtime I can so I can pay off some debt and free up cashflow so maybe one day I will have the capital to buy rental properties or maybe do some business acquisition. I do want to stay in the game and keep searching for that light bulb moment where I realize what I want to do to make money. I know how I want to live, but I need to figure out what I'm going to do to set myself up to live the way that I want. And right now, paying off debt is something I can control.
