This is my new viewpoint about my job offer. It pays 60 k, 5 yrs from now, and 100 k in 10 years from now. And I am pretty much stuck doing this job for the rest of my life, since he's training someone to take over his job. But I know in my heart I won't truly own it in my lifetime, since his wife is 40 years old. Until she passes away, I won't really own much.
The training is wonderful though, no doubt about that, and getting stocks into this business is nice. But then again I am not exactly a millionaire either, and he still worries about his "retirement" funds. He believes it's the best job on the planet, and I should feel fortunate to have it in my hands. He's right because it's college educated job, but I am giving him a lot of my time. 7 am- 7 p.m., 6 days a week. And he's giving me a lot of his time, and he only has 10 employers. This isn't the Hilton Hotel, so it's not that big of a deal.
I don't think it's as lucrative as I originally thought. And then there's other options I could take up very easily... much more scarier and less secured, but the rewards are much higher. It would be more independent, and it would be self-driven by me. I actually would prefer this lifestyle much more, but if I fail on my face at least I know I enjoyed the journey.
I'll just have to pave that path, since I want to be a millionaire by 25. (That's in 7 years from now). It's very do-able if I pave the path.
What would you do? Go with the job, or pave your own path?
