Hey there Fastlaners (present and future)!
It's my pleasure to be posting an introduction on this forum. I have been a member of the Fastlane Forum since September 2012, but I didn't start lurking until just recently, and there is a reason for that.
I promised myself that I would not visit the Fastlane Forum until I finished reading TMF ; I wanted it to be my reward, and what a reward it has been so far...
A little about me:
I'm a senior mechanical engineering student (5th year) at the University of Central Florida, and I will be graduating in December. I found the forum last year after two Google searches:
1) "Billionaire forum"
2) "Millionaire forum"
What motivated me to make the search?
I am a hobbyist. Every time I pursued something new, I started with the same procedure and eventually became proficient with each skill-set. With each new skill acquired, I refined my recipe for success, which is deeply rooted in research and taking action to practice my research. I thought, "Why not apply this 'recipe' to something with much greater impact on my life than a hobby?" As a result, I made the search, found the forum, bought the book, read it, and now I'm here.
What brought me here?
The desire for financial freedom. The desire for a life without compromises. The desire to extend my passion for helping people beyond my locale and immediate family. Having a limited reach stinks, but all of you who are successful in Fastlane business have shown me that it's possible to reach people in great numbers (law of effection).
...So as I said before, I have been rewarded with this forum and the members on it. I have been reading hundreds of posts as often as I can, and I'm filling a notebook with my research faster than I expected.
I have to first thank MJ DeMarco for keeping this open for us. I'm sure that, as I start to become more familiar with all of your names and the inner workings of this community, it will feel like home, and all of you like family. That being said, I have to thank the rest of you, especially the Fastlaners, for your generous contributions. I look forward to the day that I'm in your position doling my wisdom to other Fastlane students.
If you believe that I've omitted anything important, then ask away! I'd be more than happy to answer.
Thanks for reading, and take care.
