I've been in the IT business for a while running my own company doing the majority of the work myself and hiring contractors for specific task.
Over the past few months after reading the book I decided to make some changes. The first one came today when I was able to move not 1 but 2 people into doing work that I would normally do. I have one person local and 1 person offshore who will back him up. So weekly they will bill about 30-40 hours at 145/hr total. I've decided to get status reports from both weekly and still visit with the customer once a month to make sure thing are going smoothly. This is only for 6 months, but afterward I hope to get a 36 month commitment from the customer. I hope I'm on my way. I have about 6-10 hours a month to do for up to 160 hours of work billed.
