In the past 54 hours I made a few new friends, started a business with them, got valuable advice from multiple successful mentors, created a pitch, got advice from someone who's raised millions on why our pitch sucked, and pitched to a group of judges. Won 3rd place and now I'm going to be spending the next few weeks receiving valuable advice from more mentors on how to grow our business. Our team will then get the opportunity to pitch again to a group of investors and hopefully raise enough money to continue to develop our idea.
How did I do it? I used the resources around me, I'm making this thread to encourage everyone on this forum to leverage the resources in your area. Silicon Valley isn't the only place in the world with a startup community. The event that I attended is called Startup Weekend, they are held all over the world (You should see if you have one in your area), this was the second one I attended, and it's honestly a great experience and a great opportunity to speak with other like-minded people. Even if you don't have a startup weekend in your area check out meetup.com and see if there's something going on in your area, if not try to start something.
